Letter to P.M. Shri Narendra Modi
Sub: Arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar, President JNUSU on false allegations – request urgent intervention regarding
Dear Prime Minister,
The President of the JNU Students Union Kanhaiya Kumar is arrested on 12.02.2016 morning, after police raided JNU campus, on the sue moto cognizance by police that anti-national and pro-Pakistan slogans are raised in the campus. JNU administration has ordered for an enquiry. It is astonishing that the student leader is arrested even without any enquiry.
There are problems in the campus for few days. Some student organization planned a meeting after permission for a cultural programme, which was withdrawn 15 minutes earlier on the complaint of ABVP. Other students protested and there was tension in the campus. As JNU President he has gone there to avoid a clash. JNUSU President is not the sponsorer of the meeting nor an organizer of it. He belongs to All India Students Federation. AISF does not agree with their stand on Jammu and Kashmir or other issues. A concocted case is now filed on JNU President that He raised anti-National slogans, which is not true. A bogus concocted video is being planted as if Kanhaiya Kumar is starting slogans. In fact he addressed students later condemning anti-National activities, there is a video also.
After emergency this is first time that campus are raided by police. This is most undemocratic. After the death of Rohit Vemula at University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, there is unrest in many universities. Politics and administration should be separated. Political vendetta against all those who does not agree with ABVP is taking place with the help of police and administration. ABVP is frustrated as Kanhaiya Kumar defeated them in Elections. They are putting something in his mouth and shouting that he is anti-National. Why Home Ministry and Police support them. Patriotism is not the monopoly of any single party.
CPI fought against separatists and Pro-Pakistan elements in Jammu and Kashmir. CPI Jammu and Kashmir State Secretary Com. Ranzoor was murdered by pro-Pakistan elements. How CPI can be accused as pro-Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
I express my serious concern that there are threatening telephone calls to Com. D. Raja M.P., CPI Central Secretariat Member that he and his daughter Aparajita, AISF leader in JNU will be shooted down if they continue to fight ABVP and RSS. One of them claimed that he is Ravi Poojari underground don. If there is no security to a Member of Parliament and a well known senior leader of CPI to whom else you can give security. How dare they threaten a leader of his stature? It is a matter of shame.
We urge upon you as Prime Minister to be objective, impartial and to intervene, to stop this political vendetta and instruct the Delhi Police, which is under Home Ministry to withdraw false case and release Kanhaiya Kumar immediately.
With Regards
Yours Sincerely,
(S. Sudhakar Reddy)
General Secretary
